Good news for the UK, in the latest annual Global Innovation Index, compiled by Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, with a 5th place ranking ahead of Germany, Hong Kong and Japan.
The UK ranked highly in the study, which judges countries based on creative teaching, progressive laws and intelligent business practices, due to its success in areas such as infrastructure.
Switzerland was again ranked number 1 in the survey, due to its knowledge-based economy and the ability to translate innovative thinking into profitable projects.
"The UK's success in infrastructure, such as the London Crossrail, buoy it near the top. But the country has lower scores in education and productivity."
